 Introduction

With this research we intend to know the strategies that the municipal administration is
implementing through Law 1774 of 2016 to minimize the abandonment of pets in the municipality
of Funza Cundinamarca during and after the pandemic.
 Justification

About 53% of domestic animals are homeless, 43% of Colombian

households have a pet, according to Pet Industry Magazine, there
are about 3.5 million pets in Colombia. Of these, 67% are dogs,
18% cats and 16% of households have both.

What are the strategies to minimize the

abandonment of pets in relation to Law 1774 of
2016 in the municipality of Funza?
 General objective

Determine the strategies of the administration of the municipality of

Funza through the study of Law 1774 of 2016 to minimize the
abandonment of pets.
 Specific objectives

Generate strategies that, through Law 1774 of 2016, make the residents of the
municipality aware of the legal consequences of abandoning pets.
 
Create a poster that informs the inhabitants of the municipality of Funza of the
importance of caring for our pets, loving and protecting them, and the legal
consequences of abandoning them.
 
Identify the main causes of pet abandonment in the municipality of Funza
according to studies carried out by the municipal administration.

 Theoretical framework
Abandonment: It is the act and the consequence of abandoning. This verb can allude to leaving something or someone, moving
away or neglecting it. For example: "The old man lived in a state of absolute abandonment", "The abandonment of dogs on public
roads is a very important problem for this city", "The neighbors are outraged by the abandonment of the cultural center by the
authorities ”.
 
Minimize: Reduce considerably, or to a minimum, a material or immaterial thing, especially the value or importance of somethin
or someone.
 
LAW 1774: Animals as sentient beings are not things, they will receive special protection against suffering and pain, especially
that caused directly or indirectly by humans, for which this law classifies as punishable some behaviors related to mistreatment of
animals, and a sanctioning procedure of a police and judicial nature is established.
 
Animal Protection: The treatment of animals is based on respect, solidarity, compassion, ethics, justice, care, the prevention of
suffering, the eradication of captivity and abandonment, as well as any form of abuse. , mistreatment, violence, and cruel
treatment;
 
Strategy: It is a concept that refers to the procedure through which decisions are made in a given scenario with the aim of
achieving one or more goals.
