OBJECTIVES

• To analyse and integrate the surface water and groundwater using MODFLOW model.

• To simulate and predict the groundwater conditions and surface water interactions.

• Calibration and Validation of model using GIS techniques.

INTRODUCTION

• The utilization of groundwater is important for developing in urban, rural areas, agriculture sectors and industrial

sectors.

• Now a days groundwater systems are extremely affected by excessive use of groundwater due to increase of urban

areas.

• As groundwater is indirectly dependent on surface water, analysis of surface water is also important.

• Ground water management is widely applied using the finite difference computer programme MODFLOW(

Modular three dimensional finite-difference groundwater flow model)

• MODFLOW is the mostly commonly applied code to analyse the groundwater flow system, predict the

groundwater level changes.

• A systematic understanding of the spatial variation of hydraulic conductivity is useful for constructing an

accumulated deterministic model of groundwater.

• To manage and to control there by to understand and analyse groundwater resources is important using the recent

techniques MODFLOW
