LESSON 1.1: ONLINE PLATFORMS AND SITES
• Presentation or Visualization Platforms allows you to present and
share presentations, infographics and videos with other people. It is
used to communicate information clearly and efficiently.

EXAMPLE WEBSITE:
• PREZI. Is an online presentation website tool that takes an
alternative approach to slides and presentation.
Cloud Computing Platform is also called as “THE
CLOUD”. It is the practice of using a network or remote servers
hosted on the internet. Instead of using your computer’s hard drive,
you store and access your data and programs over the internet.

EXAMPLE WEBSITE:
 MICROSOFT AZURE. Formerly known as Windows
Azure, is a Microsoft’s public cloud computing platform.
File Management Platform is used for the storing,
naming, sorting, and handling of computer files. Allows
you to convert and manage files without download in the
software tools.

EXAMPLE WEBSITE:
eFileCabinet. Is a selling proprietary software to
manage and store documents, content, and records,
either on-site or in the cloud. 

Mapping Platform is a transformation taking the points
of one space into the point of the same or another space.
Uses GPS to detect location and used for navigation.

EXAMPLE WEBSITE:
GOOGLE MAPS. Is a web mapping platform and
consumer application offered by Google. It helps
people to find your business, allows people to quickly
contact your business and helps us find the right
destination we want to go.
Social Media Platform is a
computer-mediated tools that allow
large group of people to create, share
or exchange information, interest and
the information shared can be in the
form of ideas, pictures, videos or
anything that you want to create and
share to virtual communities. It can be
in the following platforms.
SOCIAL NETWORKS. These sites allow
you to connect with other people with the
same interests or background.

EXAMPLE WEBSITE:
Facebook. Is a website which allows users, who sign-
up for free profiles, to connect with friends, work
colleagues or people they don't know, online. It allows
users to share pictures, music, videos, and articles, as
well as their own thoughts and opinions with however
many people they like.
 BOOKMARKING SITE. These are sites
that allow you to store and manage links to
various websites and resources.

EXAMPLE WEBSITE:
• Pinterest. Is a social curation website for sharing
and categorizing images found online. The site is
described in its own content as a visual
bookmarking site.
 SOCIAL NEWS. These are sites that
allow users to post their own news items or
links to other news sources.

EXAMPLE WEBSITE:
 Digg. Is a social networking website featuring user-
submitted news stories.
• MEDIA SHARING. These are sites that allow
you to upload and share media content like
images, music, and video. Media sharing sites
can be specific for video sharing, photo sharing,
slide sharing, social bookmarking and gaming.

EXAMPLE WEBSITE:
  YouTube. Is a video sharing service where users can
watch, like, share, comment and upload their own
videos.
MICROBLOGGING. These are sites that focus on
shorts updates from the user. Those subscribed to the
user will be able to receive these updates. Posts are brief
that range typically from 140 – 200 characters.

EXAMPLE WEBSITE:
Twitter. Is a free social networking microblogging service
that allows registered members to broadcast short posts
called tweets. Twitter members can broadcast tweets and follow
other users' tweets by using multiple platforms and devices. 
BLOGS AND FORUMS. These are websites
that allow users to post their content. Other users
can comment on the said topic.

EXAMPLE WEBSITE:
WordPress. Is a website builder and content
management system. It is an open source software that
anyone can use to make any kind of website imaginable.
It started out as a blogging platform in 2003 but soon
transformed into a CMS and later a full-fledged website
building platform.
