What is Green energy

 Green energy is any energy type

that is generated from natural
resources, such as sunlight, wind
or water.

 It is energy resources that are

renewable.
How does it works?
 green energy often comes from renewable energy
technologies such as solar energy, wind power, geothermal
energy, biomass and hydroelectric power.

 Each of these technologies works in different ways,

whether that is by taking power from the sun, as with solar
panels, or using wind turbines or the flow of water to
generate energy.
Types of green energy
Solar energy:

It is produced by photovoltaic
celis.,which capture sunlight and
converts Into energy.

Problems with solar energy :

• The cost Of solar panel and
system range between $20k-40k.

• The light From the sun Produces

a very small amount of energy.
Uses:

• It is used for battery charging.

• It is used for cooking.

• To take the salt away from the sea

water.

• It is used by plants for the Process

photosynthesis.
Wind energy:
wind energy uses the power of
the flow of air around the
world to push turbines that
then generate electricity.

Uses:
• Large space areas.
• Field requires.
• Winding areas.
• Pumping water.
Geothermal energy :
• Geothermal energy is heat
within the earth.

• The word geothermal comes

from the Greek words geo
(earth) and therme (heat).

• Geothermal energy is a
renewable energy source
because heat is continuously
produced inside the earth.
Uses:
• It is used for bathing,
• To heat buildings, and
• To generate electricity.

Advantages :
A reliable source as its easier to predict the power output
from a geothermal plant with a high degree of accuracy.

Disadvantages:
Energy fluid needs to be pumped back into the underground
reservoirs faster than it is depleted. Management is required
to maintain sustainability
Biomass Energy:

• Biomass energy is energy

generated or produced by
living or once-living organisms.

• The most common biomass

materials used for energy are
plants, such as corn and soy,
above.
Types of Biomass energy:

• Field and plantation biomass.

• Industrial biomass
• Forest biomass.
• Aquatic biomass.
• Urban waste biomass.

Uses:
• It is used in agriculture.
• It is used in industries.
Advantages:
• Biomass is always and widely available as a renewable
source of energy.
• It is carbon neutral.
• It reduces the overreliance of fossil fuels.
• Less expensive.
• Less garbage in landfills.

Disadvantages:
• Can lead for deforestation.
• It is not entirely clean.
• It require lot of space.
Hydro Water energy:

This type of green energy uses

the flow of water in rivers,
streams, dams or elsewhere to
produce energy.
This is also called hydroelectric
or hydro power

Uses:
• In agriculture
• In pump sets
• At offices
• Government organisations
Advantages :
• Low emissions.
• Reliable.
• Safe.
• Environmental consequences.
• Expensive to build.

Disadvantages:
• Higher initial Costs.
• Carbon and Methane Emissions.
• Susceptible to Droughts.
• Flood Risk.
Why is it important?
• Green energy is important for the environment as it replaces the
negative effects of fossil fuels with more environmentally-
friendly alternative.

• when the full life cycle of a green energy source is taken into
consideration, they release far less greenhouse gases than fossil
fuels, as well as few or low levels of air pollutants.

• Creating energy with a zero carbon footprint is a great stride to a

more environmentally friendly future.
Advantages of Green energy
Disadvantages of Green energy
Efficiency of Green energy

Total capacity : 29,160MW

Conclusion
• Green energy looks set to be part of the future of the world,
offering a cleaner alternative to many of today’s energy
sources. Readily replenished, these energy sources are not just
good for the environment, but are also leading to job creation
and look set to become economically viable as developments
continue.

• The fact is that fossil fuels need to become a thing of the past
as they do not provide a sustainable solution to our energy
needs. By developing a variety of green energy solutions we can
create a totally sustainable future for our energy provision,
without damaging the world we all live on.
