CENTRAL AGENCY SECTION
•An Office of Department of Legal Affairs
•Govt. Advocates & Advocates-on-Record
•Engagement of Law Officers/ approved Panel Counsels
for various cases
•Conduct and supervision of litigation on behalf of
Union of India/ NCT of Delhi. C&AG and Union
Territories in the Supreme Court of India

ADDITIONAL SOLICITOR GENERALS OF


INDIA
Nine Additional Solicitor Generals of India
Attorney General/Solicitor General mark the court cases to
above Addl. Solicitor Generals on daily basis as per daily cause
list of Supreme Court which is compiled and prepared by
Central Agency Section and forwarded to AG/SG.
Additional Solicitor Generals of India also assist Attorney
General/Solicitor General on important matters as and when
their appearance is sought by AG/SG.
REFORMS INITIATED BY DEPARTMENT OF LEGAL
AFFAIRS

The Legal Information Management


and Briefing System (LIMBS).
• A web based application for monitoring of all court cases where
Union of India is one of the parties
• Integration with Courts: Direct integration with websites of
various Courts/Tribunals .Facility of CNR number
• Integration with e-Office: The portal has been integrated with e-
Office for cross platform monitoring in the matters of obtaining
Legal Opinion or filing of SLPs
• Nodal Officer and Local Admins have been provided rights to
manage users and case status under their control.

KNOWLEDGE Of LEGAL MATTERS IN COURT


CASES
Practical Experience in Drafting of Cases and
preparation of Affidavits
Understanding of Seriousness of Proceedings of Courts
especially Contempt of Court matters etc.
Interaction with Senior Govt. officials, i.e, Cabinet
Secretary’s Office, Home Secretary’s Office - directly
with different Joint Secretaries and acting as a Bridge
among ASGs, CAS, Senior Govt Officials of Ministries.
