SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT

General Objectives
This proposal entitled “Zero Waste” of LUNHS-Senior High School Waste Management aims to:
1. preserve the environment by minimizing wastes;
2. promote environmental awareness in the conservation of materials in the form of waste
segregation and natural waste recycling.
3. encourage students and teachers in the segregation of waste at source.

Specific Objectives
This proposal aims to realize the following specific objectives:
1. practice by heart the value of waste segregation at source, composting and recycling to sustain
the battle cry for the environment.
2. Minimize biodegradable waste of LUNHS- Senior High School;
3. Provide source of organic fertilizer for plants in the senior high school and additional source of
funds for waste management in the senior high school through entrepreneurship of excess compost.

It will be consists of three
committee
1.segregation
2. recycling
3. composting
SEGREGATION COMMITTEE
1. The committee will be responsible in overseeing the proper ways segregation at source
in particular inside the classroom.
2. Assess on the implementation of waste segregation everyday with the cooperation of
the class mayors and his team through the guidance of the class adviser through the use
of rubrics.

3.Ensure guarantee that the disposal of properly segregated of every classroom will be
done every 4:00-4:30 PM.
4. Implement the rules and regulations on waste segregation and impose the necessary
sanctions to be imposed.

Below is a rating scale to be used in checking for the segregation of waste in each
classroom.
5-very highly observed 4-highly observed 3-moderately observed
2-observed 1-not observed at all

Criteria 5 4 3 2 1

A. The waste bins are properly labeled and clean          

B. The waste are properly segregated in the          

designated bins
C. The waste bins are disposed every afternoon          

between 4:00 to 4:30.


COMPOSTING COMMITTEE
1. The committee will check on the waste if properly segregated before throwing it into the
designated pit of each kind of waste.
The biodegradable materials will be placed in the pre composting area together with leaves and the
like to be utilize in the vermicomposting facility

2. The committee will also be in charge in the sustainability of the vermicompost facility which
includes the feeding of the vermis and harvesting of the vermicast.

3. The committee will also be in charge in maintaining the compartment for food leftover so as to
avoid the formation of odor.

4. The committee will also be responsible in the intensive implementation of solid waste disposal on
time.

RECYCLING COMMITTEE
1. The recycling team will be in charge of producing recycled products from bottles and
plastics bags and other non- biodegradable materials.
2. The committee is responsible in the implementation or creation of contest programs in
recycling non-biodegradable waste.
3. The recycled products will be utilized in the senior and any excess will be dispose for
entrepreneur purposes.
4. The committee will oversee the implementation of recycling waste of every classroom
and encourage for the production of at least two new recycled products every month.
