FOLK ARCHITECTURE

These are simple structures built of local
materials and available tools to provide
shelter for its inhabitats.
Bahay kubo or
Nipa Hut

 It is also known as kamalig

 Bahay kubo was designed to endure


tropical climate of the country

 It serves as an icon to Filipino lowland


& rural culture

 It is made up to the bamboo rods and


bamboo mats / sawali, and the roofs is
made up of anahaw or nipa.

Maritime Transport

Maritime transport in the philippines includes boat
houses,Boat making ,and maritime tradition. These are
Structures, traditionally made of wood chosen by elders and
crafts folks, were used as the main vehicles of the
people ,connecting one island to another ,where the seas and
rivers became the people’s road.

 The wooden banca is a small


wooden boat used for daily
transport by people living near
the coast

 It is sometimes highly decorated

Weaving, Textile making,and
Fabric Art

Early Filipino weaved using Fibers from
abaca,cotton,pineapple and , Bark. Before the final
garment or fabric is produced, the fibers were first
knotted, Boiled, dyed, and dried and weaved using
hands and a wooden platforms.

tradition.
