TISSUES

Are group of cells that perform specific function

EPITHELIAL
TISSUES
Are tissues found on
the surface of organs
and lines the inner
spaces of the organs.
Its main function is
for protection,
secretion, and
absorption. And are
dependent upon the
underlying connective
tissue for nutrients.
TYPES OF EPITHELIAL TISSUES

 Simple squamous – Lining of the alveoli.

 Stratified squamous – Skin

 Columnar – Lining of the small intestine.

 Cuboidal – lining of the kidney

CONNECTIVE
TISSUES
This type of tissue
connects and holds
together structures in the
body, providing support
and structure. This type
of tissue is the most
abundant, varied and
widespread in the human
body. It also has the
widest variety of
functions.
TYPES OF CONNECTIVE TISSUE
NERVOUS
TISSUES

Nervous tissue is
specialized for
communication and
composes the brain,
spinal cord, and
peripheral nerves.
PARTS OF THE
NEURON

 NEURONS – the cells that make up the

brain and the nervous system.
 CELL BODY – the spherical part of the
neuron that contains the nucleus.tains
 DENDRITES – which receive signals, and
 AXONS – which send signals.
 GLIAL CELLS are the support cells of
nervous tissue. ( maintaining proper ion
concentrations in the fluid surrounding
neurons, generating myelin and cleaning up
debris )
TYPES OF MUSCLE TISSUES
 SKELETAL MUSCLES are attached to
bones, and its contraction generates
body movements.

 SMOOTH MUSCLE tissue is found in

the walls of hollow organs, such as the
gastrointestinal tract, blood vessels, and
the urinary bladder.

 CARDIAC MUSCLE is present in the

heart. Cells are striated, shorter, have a
single nucleus and are often branched.
