It also represents a new beginning
for Israel. It is used as a Jewish
symbol about 650 years ago.

Egypt and Syria
Black - oppression (cruel exercise of
power)

Some varieties of jasmine give
off a wonderful scent. Jasmine
thrives in a warm area of the
garden, with full to partial sun
and fertile soil that drains well.
The plant needs water and
moisture during summer,
especially on dry, hot days or
during times of drought. The
plants grow best when pinched
and shaped to control their
growth.

soap. Jasmine is a nectar-

FLAG OF KUWAIT
Kuwait consists mostly
of desert Kuwait is the only
country in the world with no
natural lake or water
reservoir. It has nine islands,
the largest one being
Bubiyan. Kuwait is very rich
with oil. Its country is run by
a monarchy. A monarchy is
country that is ruled by
someone that inherited his
position like a king or queen.
Kuwait means “little fort”.
Landmarks of Kuwait
The largest of the towers,
which measures 187 meters
high, has two spheres to it. The
upper one is a revolving
observation deck that has a
cafeteria in it. It makes a full
rotation every 30 minutes so
you can get a different view.
The lower sphere has three
restaurants in the top part of it
and about a million gallons of
water reserve in the bottom.
FLAG OF IRAN
The green stripe symbolizes
Islam and the white represents
purity and peace. The red stripe
symbolizes blood and valor. The
writing is Allah-o-Akbar (God is
Great) which is written 22 times
in stylized Kufi script - this
represents February 11, 1979,
which was the day of the Iranian
Revolution. The coat of arms
symbolizes strength and
fortitude and the growth of the
Muslim faith. The stylized
emblem as a whole reads Allah or
God.

The national flower
of Iran is the Red
Rose. It is said to be
the most popular
flower world-wide
because of its beauty
and exceptional
fragrances.

The colors red, white,
black and green stand for
Arab unity and independence.
The green stars symbolize
Iraq’s unsuccessful attempt
to unite with Egypt and syria
and each star was to
represent a country in the
union. Today they represent
Iraq’s desire for Arab unity.

Culture of Iraq
“Jurn” a giant mortar which
is used for crushing wheat to
prepare “Savar”, a common
food that the Kurd farmers eat
in the ancient or very old
Kurdish City Ruha. This mortar
is just like the one your mommy
uses to crush garlic only much,
much bigger. Can you see the
big cone shaped structures in
the back? That is where they
store the wheat after harvest.
Wheat grows much like rice and
is a grain much like rice.
