Chosen image

The image I have chosen to present the

glitch manipulation as my final piece
because I feel that it gives the creepy,
disconnected from reality vibe I was
trying to create. The glitch means the
image cannot fully be seen which adds
to the mystery of the piece. It also
leaves a lot of negative space which
puts even more emphasis on the
drawing.
Contrast
I created this edit in photoshop by opening an image of a black wall and
pasting the image onto it. I then used the transformation tool to decrease
the size of the image and then used the blur tool to soften the edges
making the image look more connected to the wall.
Presented in contrast
One way of presenting my final work is using a
contrasting background taking inspiration from Alias
Trate. The contrast from the background brings more
attention to the piece and helps it to stand out. As well
as this it being smaller on the wall creates more intrigue
as the viewer must get up a lot closer to the image to
take it all it. It also allows for a greater area of contrast.
The dark atmosphere of the set up also adds more of a
dark aspect to the piece. Also, because the image is so
small it makes it seem less intimidating than if it was
bigger than the viewer.

Presented on a wall
Another way I wanted to present my work was in a graffiti type
setting to give it a more informal air. This would be viewed by the
public during their usual day not just when they are seeking out art
which gives an entirely different viewing experience. How this art
impacts them will be carried with them throughout part of their day,
and if they pass it often a longer impression will be left.
Wall: BIGSTOCK

I created this edit by choosing an image of a white wall

and pasting the drawing onto the wall. I then used the smudge
tool in varying opacities to blend it into the wall to make it look
more like it was painted onto the wall.
Outside
I created this by using the quick select tool to select the billboard and
then pasted it onto the image of the park. I then used the transformation
tool to alter the size and placement before pasting the image onto it and
again using the transformation tool to fit it to the billboard. I then used
the blur tool to blend the pole into the grass.
Presented outside
One of the ways I wanted to present my work was using a
similar method to Louise Bourgeois, which was presenting
outside. This would preferably be outside an art gallery as one
of the exhibitions to give the viewers a totally different
experience when viewing the art as it is not separated from
their live by it being in an art gallery it is just there on the
street with them.

T-Shirt
I created this in photoshop by using white t-shirt images, I then pasted in the
image I had chosen and then used the eraser tool to erase abound the image
before using the blur and smudge tool to blend the image into the t-shirt.
Clothes
This adaptation of my art appeals to the younger
demographic as graphic t-shirts have a big place in
young adult fashion. I think this design is successful,
especially in the back of the t-shirt as the wings can
spread over the shoulders creating a clean composition.

Process Evaluation
This brief was asking me to create a piece of art and manipulate it in 6 different ways to create different effects on
photoshop. Then I had to present my final chosen image in 3 different ways. My first step in planning once I had
researched some art styles, I liked was to just start drawing. I was feeling quite stuck for inspiration and so I decided the
best way to start was to just start. Once I had begun the inspiration started flowing and before long, I had drawn a
character and was able to choose a photoshop tutorial to begin my first manipulation. My research was very useful as it
helped me find a style in which I was going to draw but also began to give me options in ways of presenting it by looking
at how other artists had presented their work. For this project I again used my digital illustration skills through the medium
of procreate. I also learned and used multiple different manipulation tools on both procreate and photoshop and I practiced
my presentation skills to teach the rest of the class the manipulative technique I had learned. During this project I think a
lot of the manipulations went successfully as I found they added to the eerie vibe I was going for. This includes the
reflection, the glitch, the smudging method and the first text method. However, I thought that the pop out, the second text
method and the collaging method were less successful as they either obscured the image or made the image appear
clunky.  The main way I overcame this was to practice multiple methods of experimentation. As well as this, I solved the
problem of the heads looking out of place on the collage by adding multiple and I solved the problem of most of the
clunkiness on the pop out manipulation by ensuring I selected a smaller amount of the second image to add.
Final Piece Evaluation
My final outcomes show 3 separate ways to present my final artwork. I am trying to communicate both and eerie
atmosphere representing how evil can be deceiving and how the impacts the viewer very differently depending on how it is
presented. I think I did this successfully since the three different ways I presented my work were quite varied. This gives a
clear comparison between the different impacts. However, I think to convey the message of the drawing a little clearer
there could be some more aspects of innocence included. This idea was inspired by the styles of Ekaterina Savic
and Bastien Lecouffe Deharme and the creative visuals in the music video 'Pink Venom'. The dark creepy elements of their
work is what I drew most of my inspiration from. In the black wall presentation, a problem I encountered was making the
image look more realistically like it was on the wall. I solved this by using the blur tool around the edges of the image to
make it blend with the wall and soften the edges. A problem I encountered with the graffiti presentation was making the
image look as if it again were a part of the wall. I used the distortion tool in procreate to solve this using different opacities
to blend it slowly revealing parts of the brick. Finally, a problem I had to solve with the outside presentation was finding
an image i could use as my backdrop. To solve this, I edited two images together to ensure the billboard was in a location
that made sense in the context and then copied the drawing on top. Overall, I think my response to the brief was successful
as I enhanced my drawing through editing and successfully showed three separate ways to present it.
