POPULATION PYRAMID OF QUEZON

CITY (2020)
Presented By: Adriana Gopez
What is a Population
Pyramid?

A population pyramid (age structure

diagram) or "age-sex pyramid" is a
graphical illustration of the
distribution of a population (typically
that of a country or region of the
world) by age groups and sex; it
typically takes the shape of a
pyramid when the population is
growing.
TYPES OF POPULATION PYRAMID
Expansive Population

It means that the population is young and

growing. It has a wide base and a narrow
top, which show that a large portion of the
population is young. Usually, these are
representative of a developing area.
POPULATION IN TERMS OF AGE, GENDER AND LIFE
EXPECTANCY

Overall there is an almost 1:1 ratio of men and women in the

population, with 49.66% being males and 50.33% being female. The
life expectancy for men is also lower than women as starting at age 40,
the population of women starts to become larger. This could be because
of a number of variables such as the war, famine, or disease. There is
also a noticeable bump in the ages of 20-34 years old. This could be a
sign of a baby boom years ago, or immigration.
Almost 1:1 Ratio with
Male/ Female 49.66% being males
Ratio and 50.33% being
female.
TOTAL DEPENDENCY RATIO
Using the formula: ( population 0-15) + (population
65+)] / [(population 16-64]) x 100, we can see that the
total dependency rate for the population is at 48.70%
which indicates that the economically active population
and the overall economy face a greater burden to
support and provide.
CHILD DEPENDENCY RATIO
Of this 48.70%, most of these are mainly children.
Using the formula: (population 0-15) / [(population
16-64]) x 100, we have deduced that the child
dependency rate is 41.63% meaning that one has to
plan for a child's future education, housing, and career
opportunities.
OLD AGE DEPENDENCY RATIO
A 7.07% old age dependency rate should also be taken into
consideration when planning a city. Facilities such as health
care centres, and homes for the aged are things to keep in
mind as well. It is also alarming that there is such a high
number of dependents. This means that those of working age
carry a great burden in supporting the youth and ageing
population.
