What is ADAPTATION?
-> is any heritable trait that helps organisms to survive and reproduce in their environment.
-> Adaptations happen in all different sizes of living organisms, from basic single-celled organisms to
complex organisms such as plants and animals
->Adaptations are the result of evolution (change over a long period of time).
What are the three TYPES of

What is Structural Adaptation?
STRUCTURAL
ADAPTATION is how the animal’s
body functions or looks on the outside.
Body parts (like feet and ears) and body
coverings (like fur and scales) are
structural adaptations.
Examples of Structural Adaptation:
-Temperature Regulation
-Release of toxins or poisons
-Releasing anti-freeze proteins to avoid
freezing in a cold environment

What is Behavior Adaptation?
BEHAVIORAL
ADAPTATION is something
an animal does usually in response to
some type of external stimulus in
order to survive. Hibernating during
winter is an example of behavioral
adaptation.
Examples of Behavioral Adaptation:
-Migration
-Hibernation
-Learned behavior
-Alteration in the made reproduction
-Altered feeding habits
-Distinct modes of communication
