Why do we need to rethink our

use of Natural Resources?

I believe we should reconsider our use of natural
resources because the majority of them are not
renewable. Materials like fossil fuels emit a lot of
pollution, which contributes significantly to global
warming and the Earth's extinction. Nuclear energy is
the primary source of electricity in Ontario and many
other countries, but it is also very harmful to the
environment. Second, humans are greedy and
overmine resources that generate income. A perfect
example of this is when Europeans discovered that
beaver fur is extremely valuable and nearly farmed
them to extinction. On a similar note, Canada had to
shut down the cod industry in 1992 due to overfishing
caused by greed. Finally, we must reconsider how we
use natural resources and place a greater importance
on the health of the planet rather than our benefit.
 Reduce
- Reducing requires less product to be
produced, which saves a lot of
resources. In addition, less waste is
produced, resulting in cleaner oceans
and less pollution.
Reuse
- Reusing our old belongings, such as
clothes, by donating them or giving them
to younger relatives conserves resources
such as water and fabric. Reusing jeans is
critical because it takes 7500 litres of
water to make one pair of jeans.
Recycle
- Recycling saves the fewest resources
because the item is destroyed before it can
be reused. Also, incorrectly putting items
into recycling bins creates waste because the
reusable material becomes contaminated
and is no longer accepted by businesses.
 Electronics
We need to think more before
we just throw away our old
electronics and also about
buying new technology. This
is reusing because instead of
buying a new phone that
consists of minerals that were
mined from the Earth.
Food
Recycling must be kept in mind
at all times because many
people put the wrong things in
recycling bins. Many people
believe that recycling batteries
is beneficial, (you must bring
them to the recycling centre) but
in reality, it causes fires in
recycling plants and endangers
lives.
Hydration
In terms of ocean and factory
pollution plastic water bottles
are a big contributor. We need
to rethink how we get our
water weather that’s from the
tap or through a fridge. This is
an example of reducing plastic
waste and helping the
environment.
School
Reducing carbon emissions
is critical because vehicles
contribute significantly to
global warming. We need to
reconsider how we students
get to school, whether it's by
bike, carpooling, or taking
public transportation.
