RETRACTION
The existence of alleged retraction was circulated in a short
and long statement, and Published in four texts in Spain
• The first text was published in La Voz Espanola and Diario de Manila on the
day of Rizal’s execution on December 30, 1896.
• The second text appeared in Barcelona, Spain on February 14, 1897, in the
magazine La Juventud in Barcelona, Spain it was came from an anonymous
writer who revealed himself fourteen years later as Fr. Balaguer.
• There were several books were published and did not noticed the
dateline “Manila 29 de Diciembre de 1890” in the historicity of Rizal’s
retraction

Lazaro Segovia took an oath of allegiance to the United States. However, he
