A. Background of the problem


Learning vocabuary is central of language and of critical importance to typical
language student. Without a sufficient vocabulary, someone can not
communicate effectively or express the ideas in both oral and written form.

B. Identification of the problem

● The students get some problem with their vocabulary such as understanding the
meaning of words, spelling and remembering vocabulary.
● The teacher still difficult to controlling the class and also still difficult to motivate and
encourage students to be able to define a word and know about the meaning of word
in teaching vocabulary
● The teacher can get to the student to love with English learning with manner use
effective strategies.

C. Limitation of problem

The study is to focus on investigating the description of teaching English


vocabulary strategies used by the teacher.

According to standard competence in syllabus that used in senior high school, kind of
vocabulary are vocabulary about important word, useful word, and difficult word that
arranged in a sentence and expressions that included in speaking, writing, listening and
reading material.

Kind of vocabulary in active and passive and passive form have own function. They are
usually named as words classification or the eight part of speech. These are the basic of
introduction of vocabulary. According to Hayanto and Hariyono, the eight parts of speech
are: Noun, Adjective, Verb, Pronoun, Adverb, Preposition, Conjunction, interjection.

Bogdan in Sugiyono states that "Data analysis is the process of systematically searching and arranging

The writer used the technique of data analysis in the version of Miles and Huberman in Raharjo, which
describe that, the technique of analysis in qualitative study do though some step as follows:

1. Data collecting are data observation, interview and docomentation to the teacher's strategies in teaching
English vocabulary.
2. Data display, it was relevant data report between theories about teacher's strategies in teaching english
vocabulary with teaching learning process in classroom.
