INTRODUCTION
z
In a disaster you face the danger of death or physical injury. You may also lose your home, possessions, and
community. Such stressors place you at risk for emotional and physical health problems. Stress reactions after a disaster
look very much like the common reactions seen after any Type of trauma. Risk Reduction measures reduce the frequency
or severity of losses, also known as loss control. May include engineering, fire protection, safety inspections, or claims
management.

In every disaster, it can cause great damage on the environment, property, wildlife and human health. These events
may include earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, landslides, wildfires, volcanic eruptions, and extreme
temperatures.

On May 5, Tropical Storm Risk TSR issued its first forecast for the 2022 season with ongoing La Niña still
anticipated until roughly the third quarter of the year, TSR predicted that tropical activity For 2022 will be slightly below
average predicting 23 named storms, 13 typhoons and 7 intense typhoons.

At this time, we face various disaster/calamities, like earthquakes like what happen here in Luzon that had
magnitude 7.0. eleven people were reported dead and 615 injured, on September 25 2022 Super Typhoon Noru locally
named Karding swept through Luzon after intensifying from a Severe tropical storm to a super typhoon within hours. With
maximum sustained winds of 195km/h And gustiness of 240km/h, Noru is one of the strongest typhoons to have formed
and made landfall this year.

The DRRM Disaster risk reduction management is helping people which actively seek out opportunities to assist
others in need make considerable and continuing commitments to provide assistance, and sustain these commitments
over extended periods of time, often at considerable personal cost. Disaster risk management is the application of disaster
risk reduction policies and strategies to prevent new disaster risk, reduce existing disaster risk and manage residual risk,
contributing to the strengthening of resilience and reduction of disaster losses. Setting up temporary shelters that provide
a safe place to sleep, food, and emotional support from trained personnel. Delivering meals and water. Distributing
emergency supplies and necessities, such as toiletries for hygiene and tarps, shovels, trash bags for cleanup efforts.
Theoretical Framework
To cap off the National Disaster Resilience Month, the UPLB Museum of Natural History MNH

gathered experts from various organizations, government agencies, and the academe for a day-long

webinar on future-proofing museums. The event, titled Future-Proofing Museums: Protecting the

Heritage of Natural History and Cultural Collection from Disasters and Other Risks, was officially

opened by Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr. who found the event responsive to the country’s current

needs, and a refreshing break and change of focus toward the preservation of the Philippines’ natural

and cultural heritage.

MNH Director Marian P. de Leon later welcomed the speakers and guests to the event that

aimed to contextualize the impact of natural hazards to the Philippines’ natural and cultural heritage,

and to help formulate evidence-based prevention, mitigation, response, and recovery strategies.

Recognizing the value of local actors; employing proactive rather than reactive approaches; forging

strong partnerships; establishing clear lines of communication; and safeguarding people against the

pandemic were all recurring themes in the conversation as experts from different sectors came

together to answer the call for a unified, context-specific, and proactive response to the country’s

situation.
