Air Transport
Human Respiratory System
Big Question

What are the components of air?

What are the functions of the organs in respiratory system?

How do Human exchange gases with surroundings?

Components of Air
• There is a layer of gas surrounds Earth
called the atmosphere.
• Earth’s atmosphere is a mixture of gases
called air.
• Moving air is known as wind
• Air is made up of about 78% Nitrogen,
21% oxygen, and 0.03% Carbon Dioxide
and the rest consists of a variable amount
of water vapour and others gases.
Components of Air
To remember the composition of gas, you can
memorize the word CROWNS
C = Carbon Dioxide
R – Rare Gases
O = Oxygen
W = Water Vapour
N = Nitrogen
S = Some other gases
Oxygen

• Essential for all living things

• Everyone need oxygen to carry out their life
processes
• Oxygen is needed by Living things to break down
food and use it to obtain energy. This process is
called respiration.
• Oxygen is produced by plants during photosynthesis
Carbon Dioxide
• Carbon Dioxide is given off when living things carry
out their life processes

• Carbon dioxide is used by plant to make their food

during photosynthesis.

Windpipe Transfer Air from nose to air tube

Air Tubes Air is spilt into two branches

Lungs Air enter the lungs, and proceed to the air sac

Air sacs Air sacs have many blood vessels that absorb
oxygen and pass the carbon dioxide to the air sac

Circulatory System
The human circulatory system is
made up of heart , blood vessels and
blood. It is the main transport
network in Human Body

Proper Definitions

Circulatory system transports food (nutrients), oxygen to cells of our body.

It also transports carbon dioxide from cells to heart and then walls of lungs.

Veins carry impure or carbon dioxide rich blood from cells of the body to the

heart.

Arteries carry pure or oxygen-rich blood from the heart to different parts of the

body.

Capillaries are smallest of all blood vessels that form the connection between

veins and arteries.
