Last lesson we read chapter 1.

In your exercise books, summarise the events of chapter 1 by answering the
following questions:

• What did we learn about the main character and setting?


• Which 3 language techniques were used to engage readers?
• What predictions can you make about the story based on the opening chapter?

You now have 20 minutes to silently read chapter 2 independently. Take note of
any language techniques that the author has used to develop a sense of character
and setting.
