Overview of Lalmonirhat
Lalmonirhat is in the north of Bangladesh. There are six rivers in Lalmonirhat district. Teesta is
one of the main rivers in this district. The total arable land is 98,875 hectares.

Background history of
Lalmonirhar
In 1783 a woman named Lalmoni along with peasant leader, Nuruldin
fought against the English soldiers and land lords for the cause to
establish the interest of general peasants and laid down her life against
the atrocity of the rulers. The place was named as the Lalmoni as the sign
of respect. The word "hat" became adhered to her name in the course of
time.

Lalmonirhat
Lalmonirhat was under sector 6. Commander was Martial Khademul
Bashar. On December 5 Pakistani army damaged a part of Teesta
Railway Bridge through bombing. The Pak army was forced to leave
Lalmonirhat district on the face of the heavy attack by the freedom
fighters on 4 and 5 December. Lalmonirhat was liberated on 6 December.
Culture of Lalmonirhat
Harijan community is one of the minor group in Lalmonirhat. They are
under the sub-dvision of Sudra caste. Which means children of god.
There are some fairs have been taking place in Lalmonirhat. Sindur Moti
Fair, Sukan Dighi Fair, Mashan Kura Banni, Baruni Fair are popular fairs in
Lalmonirhat.

10.49% are businessmen, 3.46% are laborers, and 4.45% are
employees.

Lalmonirhat
Sheikh Fazlul Karim (1882-1936) was a Bengali poet. He was born in
Lalmonirhat. Karim wrote his first book at the age of eleven, entitled Sarol
Paddo Bikash. He worked for Hundu-Muslim friendship.

Chandpur is a district located in Chattogram division, Bangladesh. It was a part of
Cumilla district until 15 February 1984. Chandpur has total eight sub-districts. This

During the ruling of the Baro-Bhuiyans, this region was occupied by


Chand Ray, the Zamidar of Bikrampur and son of Kedar Ray. According to
historian J. M. Sengupta, the region was named Chandpur, following the
name of Chand Ray.

of Chandpur
Chandpur freed from Pakistan in 8th December 1971. Chandpur was under the
sector 2. Raktadhara, a monument of the liberation war, is located at the
massacre ground at Molhead of Chandpur Bara station, the meeting place of
Padma, Meghna, and Dakatiya. In 1971, freedom-loving Bengalis were brought
here and tortured to death. That is why a pillar was built in this slaughterhouse,
which is named Raktadhara.

Famous person of Chandpur
Dipu Moni (born 8 December 1965) is a Bangladeshi politician, and has been the Minister of
Education of Bangladesh since January 2019 and a Member of Parliament representing
the Chandpur-3 constituency. She was appointed the first female Foreign Minister on 6 January
2009 after victory for the Awami League-led Grand Alliance on 29 December 2008.
