What was the major content of the Vienna
Declaration
The most important feature of the Vienna Declaration is its
focus on the rights of women, children, and indigenous people,
and its stance on combating severe poverty, environmental
degradation, gender-based violence, the mistreatment of
minorities and immigrants, and other impediments to equal
human rights for all.
The Vienna Declaration and Programmed of Action marked the
culmination of a long process of review and debate over the status of
human rights machinery in the world. This process had begun in 1961
with a General Assembly resolution designating 1968 as the
International Year for Human Rights.
