INTRODUCTION

The element ‘methods and tools’ encompasses both the process used
(method) and the device (tool). For instance, a survey is a method used to
produce knowledge and it can use different tools to collect data and
information. It can be carried out online, orally or on paper. Tools are
sometimes subsumed in methods which is why reference is often made
simply to ‘methods’.

Politics and ethics are closely linked because politics is about the ‘right’ way
to govern (a country, state or social institution). Politicians make choices
and decisions which they deem to be ‘right’ and will need to comply (or
should do so) with rules and laws.

politicians, and people in positions of authority, have at their disposal to
produce knowledge (ex: speeches, reports…).
