LESSON 4

“Anatomy and
Physiology of
Reproduction”
What is Reproduction ?
 “Reproduction is the process
of producing off-springs that
are biologically or genetically
similar to the parent
organism.”
“Anatomy of male and female genitalia “

- Male genitalia is consisting of many

parts , but the most common parts
that we can always hear are the
”penis “ and the “testicles”

- Female genitalia is consisting of many

parts too , but the most common
parts that we can always hear are the
“vagina” and the “ovary”.
“The compare and contrast of male and female genitalia “

MALE FEMALE

• Has sperm cell • Has egg cell

• Produces small cells • Produces large cells
• Men produce semen • Women produce
• Produces two or vaginal discharge
more sperms • Produces one egg cell

• Both used for

urinating
• Both used for
pleasure(sexual
interaction)
• Both produced fluids
How does
reproduction Reproduction occur when a man and women had a
occur in sexual interaction. As , the semen travels inside the
vagina the sperm cells will make its way to meet the
humans? egg cell which results to women’s fertilization.
“Physiology of Human Reproduction “
As the sperm and egg have joined together, creating
what is known as a zygote. In the coming days, the
single-cell zygote transforms into a multi-celled
embryo. But in order to facilitate pregnancy, the
embryo must successfully move from the fallopian
tubes and implant in the uterus, where it will continue
to develop into a fetus and eventually an infant.
Male Reproductive System
1. Testicles or testes
• main organ of male
reproductive system.
• pair of spherical glands
located in a pouch that
hangs in male’s body .
• produce sperm
• Male sex hormones is
called testosterone and
gonads
2. Scrotum
• Sac of skin that
hangs outside the
body wall.
• Keeps the
temperature of the
testes.
Duct system

3.Vas Deferens
• Transform mature sperm
to the urethra

4.Epididymis
• Sperm mature in
epididymis
5.Seminal vesicles

• Attached to vas
deferens

• Produce a sugar-rich
fluid that provides
energy to sperm
6. Prostate gland

• Makes fluid

7. Urethra

• Tube that carries urine from

the bladder to outside of the
body .
• Also carries sperm out of the
body.

Female Reproductive System
1.Ovaries
• Main organs of the female
reproductive system
• Sex hormone in estrogen , for
developing breast , menstrual
cycle
• Ovulation , a fully developed
egg is released from either of
the ovaries
2. Vagina

• Canal that joins

the cervix to the
outside of the
body
• Also known as the
birth canal
3. Uterus

• Hollow organ that is the

home to a developing fetus
• Commonly known as the
womb

4. Cervix
• Short canal which leads to
the uterus
