Jurassic Extinction

Event
MADE BY DAVID TANEVSKI
The Event
• The Jurassic extinction event was a mass extinction of
species that took place during the Jurassic period. It
was one of the major events in the history of life on
Earth, and it had a profound effect on the evolution of
life on our planet. The event was caused by a
combination of factors, including a major change in
the Earth's climate, a massive volcanic eruption, and
the impact of a large meteorite.
Triassic-Jurassic
• The Triassic–Jurassic boundary, placed at 200.42 Ma,
is a major geological discontinuity and separates the
Triassic and Jurassic periods, as defined in the
international geologic timescale. It is related to the
major extinction event known as the Triassic–Jurassic
boundary event
Chichulub

• The Chichulub meteor event was the largest explosion in

the solar system in 65 million years. It is believed to have
been caused by a comet or asteroid that hit the earth in
the Chicxulub crater in Mexico. The impact created a
shock wave that was felt around the world and caused
widespread damage. It is thought to have contributed to
the extinction of the dinosaurs.

Dinosaurs

The dinosaurs were a group of reptiles that lived

during the Mesozoic Era. They were the most
successful group of land animals of their time, and
were the dominant terrestrial vertebrates for over 150
million years.Some known dinosaurs were:
Tyrannosaurus rex
• Tyrannosaurus rex is one of
the most famous dinosaurs. It
is a large theropod that lived
during the late Cretaceous
period. It was one of the last
surviving dinosaurs before
the mass extinction that
ended the age of dinosaurs.
Triceratops
• Triceratops is a genus of herbivorous ceratopsid
dinosaur that first appeared during the late
Maastrichtian stage of the late Cretaceous period,
about 68 million years ago
Pterosaurs

• Pterosaurs were flying vertebrates of

the Mesozoic era. They were the first
animals to evolve powered flight.
Pterosaurs were winged, but they were
not birds. The main difference between
pterosaurs and birds is that birds have
feathers, whereas pterosaurs had a
wing membrane made of skin and
muscle.
