Introduction
Getting your presentation equipment working is one part of giving an effective,
persuasive and professional presentation.
Here are 10 tips to improve our presentation skills that will put us on the right
path to becoming a master presenter.
10 WAYS TO
IMPROVE
PRESENTATION
1.Pratice
Presentation is about performance as well as content.
. Practice our presentation over and over, doing a full run-through from start to
Doing so will help us in case we get lost or need to expand further beyond the
outline of the slide.
We can also carry flashcards with our speech points to help direct our
presentation.
3.Know how to use presentation
equipment
Be sure to take the time to check out the equipment in the meeting room before
our presentation.
If a wireless screen sharing connection is not available, make sure we gather any
extra dongles or cords we need and set them up before our customers or
colleagues arrive.
4.Anticipate question
Almost every presentation ends with a Question and Answer session between the
presenter and the audience.
The best presenters will anticipate the most important questions before they are
asked and should already have a few extra slides to answer them.
Imagine ourselves as calm and quiet presenters, using hand gestures and making
eye contact with our colleagues.
7.Minimize distractions
Remove any background apps and turn off notifications before we start our
presentation to avoid any interruptions.
If we're in a video call, use the moderator controls to mute anyone in the call who
creates unnecessary background noise.
8.Channel your inner cheerleader
It’s easy to be our own worst critic - oppose that instinct and be our greatest
cheerleader.
No one can present our own ideas better than we can, and we’ve probably
practiced this enough to know it like the back of our hands - so use it fully and
trust ourselves.
9.Loosen up
Use body language, combine natural hand gestures and make eye contact so we
look genuine and can be linked.
Stand up straight, but make sure we relax, and don’t strain our muscles.
10.Learn from others
Watch our colleagues and managers to see how they present.
Notice how they engage their audience and take note of anything that works.
