Outlook…

 Introduction
 Environmental studies

 Ecosystem
 Biodiversity and conservation
 Pollution
 Human population and environment
 Conclusion
Introduction

Means…
Environmental studies is a process that allows individuals to explores
environmental issues, analysis the solution for problems solving, and take necessary
action t action to improve the quality of environment
It is the study of relationship and interaction between nature and human system
Pollution…
Pollution is an undesirable changes in the physical, chemical or biological
characteristics o any components of the environments like air, water and land,
which can cause harmful effect o the various type of life including human
environmental pollution could be various types air, water and soil pollution
Pollutants…

 Things which cause pollution is known as pollutant.

 Pollutants may cause long or short term damages to the rate of growth of

environmental properties

 Environmental properties like plants, animals or interfering with the human

activities, comforts, health, ect..,

Types of pollutants…

• CO • Leads
• CO2 • Zinc
• NH3 • Mercaury
• SO2 • Cadmium

Gas Metals

Radio
Fertilizers
active

• Urea • Uranium
• Ammonium • Plutonium
• Sulphate • Radium
• Thorium
In pollution…

Classification of Pollution Cause of Pollution Type Of Pollution

Man made Air

Non Degradable
Water
Population Exploitation
Soil
Industries
Noise
Degradable
Vehicular Emission Thermal and Radiation
Air Pollution

Things which cause Changes in the air content known as air pollution
The Air pollution is differentiate into two types
Primary and Secondary
Primary Pollution Means directly from the point of sources like CO,
NOx, Sox, etx…,

Secondary pollution means it is formed by the interaction within

primary pollutants or with some natural constituents of atmosphere like
Ozone, Photochemical Smog, PAN, ext…,
Natural •Volcanoes
•Forest fire
pollution

Man made •Fertilizer plants

•Thermal power plants
•Petroleum industries
•Chemical industries

pollution
•Exhaust from vehicles
•Aeroplanes and jet planes
Strategies to control air pollution

 Forest area should be protected

 Green belt should be created around the densely populated areas
 Automobiles nines should be redesigned in such a way of
minimum pollution
 Industrial area should be located at a safe distance from the
residential areas and arrangement of pollution control
 Planting more plants
Water pollution

Things which cause changes in the water content.

 There are two categorized main group
Direct and Indirect
Direct source include effluent outfall from factories, refineries,
waste treatment plants, etc…,
Indirect source include contaminants that enter the water supply
from soils/groundwater system and from the atmosphere via rain
water.
Industrial waste

Sewage waste

Marine dumping

Accidental oil leakage

Radioactive waste

Causes of water pollution

Strategies to control water pollution

 Avoid mixing of petroleum substance in water.

 Dead bodies should not e thrown in the river
 All cities and town must have sewer facilities
 Growing of algae and water plants will be helpful In
keeping water clean
 Thepresence off radioactive wastes in water can be
remved by oxidation of ponds
Natural resource…
Life on this planet earth depends upon a variety of goods and services
provided by the nature which are known as natural resources
Classification of natural resources
 Origin of natural resources
 Stage of development
 Renewability
Origin of natural resources…
Based on Origin of natural resources it can e classified into
Biotic:
its recourse are obtained from living an organic material, such as forests and
animals and the material that can be obtained from them
Example : fossil fuels like petroleum and coal are formed from the decayed of
organic matter

Abiotic :
Abiotic resource are those that come from non-living, non-organic material
are known as Abiotic
Example : land, water, air, gold, silver, etc...
Stage of development…
Based on the Stage of development natural resource is classified into four
ways
Potential resource : it is the resource that are exist in the region and it
may future need, for example petroleum ect..,
Actual resource: actual resource are those that have been surveyed their
quality and quantity determined, for example wood processing depend
upon technological development.
Reserve resource : the part of an actual resource which can be
development profitability in the future is called reserve resource
Stock resource : Stock resource are those that have been surveyed but
cannot be used by organisms due to lack of technology
Example: petroleum ect..,
Renewability…
Based on the renewability of renewability it can be classified as two types
 Renewal resource
 Non renewable resource

Renewal resource
 Renewable resource are replenished after their use
 It can be regenerated within given period of times
 They are available continuously and constants
Example
 living things like trees, animals are organic renewable resource
 non living like water sand sun they are inorganic renewable resource
Non renewable resource
 which cannot be regenerated, once we exhaust these reserves or source the
same that cannot be replenish
 Even renewable resource can become non renewable resource if we exploit or
use them to much extend that their rate of consumption exceed their rate of
regeneration

Example : coal, oil , limestone ect..,
