Accessibility Features and the

iPhone

Feature #1: Auditory Reminders

● Can be set any amount of time before a transition to help a student

prepare

● May be useful to students on the spectrum or any student that may

have trouble with transitions

● Volume can be adjusted, so as not to be a distraction to the class


How to use

In the reminders app, tap ‘new reminder’, then set up the reminder by entering the desired
alert, date, and time.
Feature #2: Zoom

● Magnifies the entire screen

● May be helpful to students with low vision

● May be helpful in viewing textbooks or other online resources


How to use

Under settings, navigate to accessibility. Tap zoom and turn on. Once turned on, zoom can
be accessed anytime by double-tapping three fingers and dragging those fingers across the
screen to zoom.
Feature #3: Hold Duration

● The duration you must touch the screen before a touch is recognized

● Can be adjusted from 0.10 seconds to 4.00 seconds


How to use

Once in settings, navigate to accessibility. Tap touch, touch accommodations, then turn on
hold duration.
Feature #4: Subtitles and Captioning

● May be useful for the deaf or hard of hearing

● May be useful for any videos used in class


How to use

In settings, navigate to accessibility. Tap subtitles and captioning, turn on.


Feature #5: Hearing Devices

● Made for iPhone hearing aides and other hearing devices can be

paired with iPhone

● “Live Listen can help you hear a conversation in a noisy room or hear

someone speaking across the room” (support.apple.com)


How to use

Once in settings, navigate to accessibility and tap hearing devices. You should be able to
pair your MFI hearing aids from this screen.
