 EIA INTRO
Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
• is a process that involves predicting and evaluating the likely
impacts of a project on the environment.
• It also involves the development of appropriate preventive,
mitigating and enhancement measures that will protect the
environment from the identified impacts. These measures are
formulated into environmental management and monitoring
plans.
• Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a process of
evaluating the likely environmental impacts of a
proposed project or development, taking into account
inter-related socio-economic, cultural and human-health
impacts, both beneficial and adverse.
• By using EIA both environmental and economic benefits
can be achieved, such as reduced cost and time of
project implementation and design, avoided
treatment/clean-up costs and impacts of laws and
regulations.

EIA FOR THERMA SOUTH INC.’S 300MW
CIRCULATING FLUIDIZED BED COAL-FIRED
POWER PLANT IN MINDANAO

Aperçu conducted site assessments in several locations and

assisted TSI in choosing the final project site. Aperçu
conducted the Environmental Impact Statement for this
thermal power plant project.

The ECC for the project was acquired in September 2011.

Baseline studies conducted include: geologic
surveys, extensive flora and fauna surveys,
freshwater and marine ecology surveys.

Air dispersion modeling, thermal plume modeling

and risk assessment were conducted for the power
plant.

INC.'S COAL HANDLING FACILITY (2010)
• Grand Planters International Inc. (GPII) Coal Stockyard Project

● The project was issued an ECC in April 2004 by the DENR Central
Office.
