From :- L.D. College of Engineering,Ahmedabad.
How we approach to this project?
We participated in Gujarat Industrial Hackathon 2019.This
project was problem statement of company named Shree Archee
Intelligent Embedded Ltd,Morbi,Gujarat. This Company is making MCBs and
ELCBs used in protection system.Company problem statement was
Protection to make auto recloser ELCB which works automatically as per fault
conditions.
System We proposed solution by circuit simulation and at regional rounds
Marwadi University,Rajkot.
We participated in Grand Finale at PDPU,Gandhinagar and made
working prototype of Autorecloser ELCB.
IIT Gandhinagar provide us opportunity to participate in summer
enrepreneurship program for further expansion of project and
product commercialization.Identification of actual pain points and
to make sustainable product gives us idea to develop Intelligent
Problems of Existing Protection System
1)Nuisance Tripping
2)Shock Hazard During Manual Interruption
3) Fire accidents
4)Low response time
5) Auto Reclosing Not Available
6)More number of Mechanical parts
7)Less life span
8)Not IOT compatible
Statastical Analysis
According to NCRB(National Crime Records Bureau), a total of 18,450 cases of fire
accidents were reported in India, with 1,193 persons injured and 17,700 killed. The cause-
wise analysis of fire accidents concluded that 42.1% of deaths were due to fire accidents in
residential buildings.
Electrical Short circuit has caused 80% of fires, says fire brigade.
In Highly Educated area like Coimbatore,TamilNadu the 4 lakh residential connections,
less than a 1lakh have installed the Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker, commonly known as
safety trip, says an official of the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation.
In India installation of earth leakage circuit breaker has been mandatory under section 61 A
of the Indian Electricity Rules,1956 for all new connections of 5KW, but awareness of Earth
leakage circuit breaker is still less that cause a shock hazard.Workplace accidents report
nearly 13 electrocution deaths on an average per day India.
This is the highest in the world. The annual average electric relateddeaths in the United
Kingdom and the United States are 8 and 82 respectively.Delhi(424), Mumbai(418) and
Ahmedabad(260) are recorded the highest number of a short circuit in India during a year.
