founded by the legendary designer Yves
Saint Laurent in 1961.

 Brand history
During the 60s and 70s, Saint Laurent made its own
changes in the established trends of the fashion
industry. Safari jackets, skinny pants, thigh high
boots, sheer blouses, women's double-breasted suits
and a women's trench coat were presented.
In January 1962, the first YSL collection was
released.
In 1966, Saint Laurent took models to the catwalk in
the Le Smoking women's tuxedo, which became not
only a classic, but also the brand's signature.
In 1965, the first Mondrian collection was
presented.
Yves Saint Laurent dedicated his new
collections to people of art such as Picasso,
Henri Matisse, Van Gogh, writer Marcel
Proust, Bernard Buffet, actress Catherine
Deneuve, ballerina Zizi Jeanmer
In 1977, Yves Saint Laurent launched the
Opium fragrance, which instantly became a
hit in the perfume market.
In 1999, the Italian company Gucci acquired
a majority stake in the Yves Saint Laurent
house.
