01
Staple Food
"Don't eat, if you haven't eaten rice.“

It is the principle of Indonesian society that establishes rice as a

staple food. This is of course different from the US country which
prefers to eat bread or potatoes as its staple food.

So if you go to the US, you should be able to get used to eating

bread and potatoes more often than rice.
02
Expressing Yourself
Indonesia still prioritizes ethics, morals and of course 5
precepts that include the order of behavior of people's
lives. Meanwhile, the US is more open in accepting
new things and refers to a nationalist ethos that adheres
to the principles of life, freedom and the pursuit of
happiness.

You will find a US society that is more open in expression

through eccentric styles of dress, to behavior.

Time Management
Time is money,is a saying that continues to be held firmly by
the American people. They value time so as to avoid
arriving late so as not to waste time.

If you often say otw even though you are still taking a
shower, then you have to change this habit when you
study in the US.
04
Independent and Individualist
Indonesia prioritizes the family in various aspects of life. Not infrequently you will find several
heads of families who live in one house, or children who live with parents even though
they are adults.

This is in contrast to the more individualist US culture. A child who is already 18 years old
means that they are adults and can move out of their parents' homes. This is so that the
child can be independent and more responsible.
05
Power Distance
In Indonesia we cannot call an older uncle, aunt or cousin by name only.
This is considered disrespectful. In contrast to US, you can call your
elders by name only by no frills. The hierarchy is not rigid.
