Ferdinand Emmanuel Edralin Marcos
Sr. was a Filipino politician, lawyer,
who was the 10th president of the
Philippines from 1965 to 1986. In his
21 years of presidency, for sure he had
a lot of contribution about Science and
Technology of the Philippines.

► President Marcos gave importance to science to grew further. In the amended 1973
Philippine Constitution, Article XV, Section 9 (1), he declared that the “advancement
of science and technology shall have priority in the national development. During his
time he enacted many laws to promote science and technology.

► He directed Department of Education to include this as a subject to be learn and

develop by the students during that time.

► On April 6, 1968, he proclaimed 35 hectares in Bicutan, Taguig, Rizal as the site of the
Philippine Science Community.
