Peer and Peer Pressure..
Peers refers to an Individual with whom a child or adolescent identifies
themself, who are usually but, not always of the same age-group.

Peer pressure can happen when we are influenced to do something we usually

would not do, or stop us from doing something we would like to do.

 SPOKEN PEER PRESSURE- When someone says something directly to you

and makes it hard for you to say NO.
 UNSPOKEN PEER PRESSURE- When you have to act a certain way or dress a
certain way because it seems like a cool thing to do, even though nobody
has said anything about it.

WHY DO WE HAVE PEER PRESSURE???

Because WE WANT TO ACCEPTED BY OUR PEERS…..
Types of Peer pressure:-

POSITIVE Peer Pressure

NEUTRAL Peer Pressure

NEGATIVE Peer Pressure

Positive peer pressure:-

1. Good peer pressure is being pushed into something that you didn't have
courage to do or just didn’t cross your mind to do.
2. Good peer pressure can also be a situation when your friends convince you
not to do something you were going to do because it wasn’t in your best
interest.
Influence of GOOD PEER PRESSURE:-
We can find Friendship and Acceptance, and Share experiences that can
build lasting bonds.
Benefit from GOOD PEER PRESSURE:-
1. You may learn something new and have new experience.
2. You can overcome a fear.
3. Friendships, socializing, encouragement and good advice.
4. Our peer group gives us opportunities to try out new social skills. Getting
to
know lots of different people and help us to build a relationship.
5. Our peers might get us involved in clubs, sports, or religious groups. Our
peers might bring us to experience something good that we had never
experienced before.
Neutral peer pressure:-

1. Occurs when peers pressure one to go along with the crowd in a way that’s
not harmful to others.

2. This type of pressure occurs frequently in the teenage years and should not
be considered a problem.

3. For example, your friends invite you to go for a party which many friends will
go.
Negative peer pressure:-

1. When your friends persuade you to do something that maybe you don’t really
want to do, or is not in your best interest.
2. Negative peer pressure is usually the result of wanting to be accepted by your
peers.
3. As example, skipping class, fighting, smoking cigarettes, stealing, using alcohol
or other drugs, lying to parents about where you’re going, vandalism,
trespassing, skipping class.

Influence of NEGATIVE PEER PRESSURE:-

o Bad peer pressure usually leads to doing something bad such as drinking
alcohol, using drugs, or smoking.
o It can lead to trouble with law, with your parents and it can affect your
health.
How to respond to NEGATIVE PEER PRESSURE:-

o The key to dealing with Negative peer pressure is Self-Confidence.

o Learn to feel comfortable saying “NO”. Explaining to people in a calm way
why we don’t want to be part of something is one way of handling it.
o Hang around people who feel the same way as you do.
o And, If a situation gets dangerous, don’t hesitate to get an adult’s help.

Although peer pressure has its god and bad,

we have to accept the good and face the bad.

If not, we will be influenced by our peers to do

something which id Dangerous and Unhealthy…
Choosing friends is very important for us.
We can’t live in Isolation forever.
Good pressure can improve us, but bad one
won’t.
Having a True and Good friend is Important.

Know who is the Good peer

and
who is the Bad one.
