Conditionals

Zero Conditional
If Clause Main Clause
In a conditional sentence, If + subject + verb (present Simple) Subject + verb (Present S.)
there are always two clauses:
An “If clause”, and a “result
clause”.
If you drop a glass, it breaks.

We use the zero conditional


when we want to talk about
facts or things that are
generally true.
Make conditional sentences using the cues
given.

First Conditional

We use the first Simple)
conditional to talk

If + Past Perfect tense Would + have + past participle
We use the third Could
conditional to talk
about something in
the past that did not If I had met you last month, I would
