Fly ash has several advantages for the construction of embankments. The main advantages are
its low unt weight and high shear strength. The Pozzolanic hardening of fly ash imparts
additional strength and very little settlements, making it more suitable for use in
embankments.
Uses :

• Used in manufacturing of bricks, asbestos sheets.

• Used in retaining walls, Pavements, Dams.

• Used in manufacturing of high-performance concrete.

Objective of the
project
• To check the stability analysis of fly ash embankment by using Geostudio
software.

• To determine the basic engineering properties of fly ash using various laboratory tests.
• To select the embankment cross-section from literature.
• To assign the properties of the fly ash to the embankment cross-section and Factor of
safety

Scope of the work

• Collection of flyash from the NTPC.

• Determination of Index and Engineering properties of fly ash using various laboratory tests.

• Selection of embankment cross-section from literature.

• Assigning of Properties of fly ash to the embankment in Geostudio software.

• Check the stability analysis for flyash embankment.
