Napkin-diaper dermatitis (arabezi)
• Primer irritant contact dermatitis
• Moisture, occlusion
• Erythema and scaling in the diaper covered area

 Flexura spared
 especially areas
where diaper contacts
If duration longer than 72 hours Candida infects!

Satellite papules and pustules


Napkin dermtitis- treatment
Frequent diaper change
Cleansing the area with water after urination and
with soap and water after defecation
Apply a protective barrier cream with every diaper change
(zinc oxide, pantenol, petrolatum-vaseline, lecitine)
Continue protective cream after healing till the baby gets rid
of diaper use
If the erythema is severe, hydrocortisone (hipokort) for 1
week
Antifungal cream (4 weeks): clotrimazole
NO COMBINATION CREAM!!! (travazol, travacort…)
Differential diagnosis
• Seborrheic dermatitis
• Acrodermatitis enteropathica and
other metabolic diseases (biotinidase deficiency)
• Psoriasis
• Langerhans cell histiocytosis

• RESISTANT DIAPER DERMATITIS


-zinc levels
-skin biopsy
Acrodermatitis
enteropatica
INFANTILE SEBORRHEIC
DERRMATITIS
No itching in babies
May involve napkin area
Involves scalp(konak).
Seboreic Dermatitis

Other flexural areas involved


Topical corticosteroid, topical antifungal
cream and shampoo
psoriasis
inverse psoriasis
