INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND OF PROJECT

 Safety is one of the main aspects of the industry, specifically core industry. To
minimize material loss and human health damage, a protection system along with
a rapid communication system is necessary inside the industry.

 In this project, the main aim is to focus on the detection of abnormal gases and
temperature in the industries and transmitting this information to the workers
using the Light Fidelity (Li-Fi) technology.

 Li-Fi technology is a wireless communication system that utilizes visible light

spectrum to transmit data.
PROBLEM STATEMENTS

 Constant monitoring is challenging in the previous year. More manpower is required to

monitor and control industrial parameters such as temperature, current, voltage, gas, etc.

 Automation systems are needed to monitor the parameters continuously.

 Wi-Fi appears to have numerous security flaws that can be easily exploited.

 For data transmission in Wi-Fi networks, it is essential to increase the additional

bandwidth, which is limited and paid.
OBJECTIVES OF PROJECT

 To design a green environment industrial monitoring system using Li-Fi technology to

provide a pollution-free environment.

 To develop a monitoring system with secure communication and high data rate
transfer.

 To investigate the data transmission via visible light communication.

SIGNIFICANCE OF PROJECT

 Every public spots and private offices have WI-FI because of this wireless spectrum is
blocked very frequently due to maximum utility RF interferences are getting more
common. To overcome this problem, light fidelity (Li-Fi) technology was introduced in
the year 2011.

 The light is powered and unregulated is critical for this new technology to assist the
current RF infrastructure in driving future communication demands.

 Li-Fi can be a great alternative to the conventional methods of wireless

communications for monitoring the industrial parameters.

LITERATURE
REVIEW
INTRODUCTION TO LIFI
• Li-Fi is similar to other wireless communication which uses the communication medium as light. The process
behind Li-Fi is to transfer data at high speed using light waves from any light source even the ordinary light
table. Visible light is used to transfer data between the systems instead of radio signals. Li-Fi uses LED light
source to transmit the data wirelessly this method is widely called as VLC (visible light communication). Li-Fi can
be considered as an optical version of WiFi, so that instead of using radio waves to transfer the data it uses
visible light.

• Professor Harald Hass, the chair of Mobile Communications at the University of Edinburgh, institute Li-Fi;
demonstrated a Li-Fi prototype at the TED Global conference in Edinburgh on 12th July 2011. He illustrated the
ability of using Light Emitting Diodes (LED’s) for data transmission. In his experiment, a LED bulb of table lamp
was used to send a blooming flower video which was displayed on a screen.

attackers think of new and more devastating

method should be in place to avoid these
risks posed to organisations especially ones

CONCLUSION
CONCLUSION

Due to increased demands for high speed data, many wireless technologies are evolving and
emerging, LiFi promises great potential in the wireless domain. It is an efficient, fast and cost-
effective technology. The framework describes a prototype for monitoring systems in industry
that employ Li-Fi technology. In industrial automation systems, two important aspects for the
manufacturing process are a safe and high-speed internet connection. Considering the fact that
Li-Fi coverage is within the extent of LED lights, making the network impossible to reach
outside. Henceforth a very secure connection is established. Thus, the Li-Fi technology brings
safety connection. For a greener and safer future, it is highly challenging to shift to the Li-Fi
technology from the existing technologies available.
