Biological sensory nerves

When pressure is applied to the skin, the mechanoreceptors change their voltages, which are combined and transmitted to
neurons nearby. When a voltage threshold is reached, these neurons send electrical pulses that are integrated through
synapses, reaching the brain to register the touch sensation. Higher pressures produce electrical pulses at higher frequencies.
Artificial sensory nerve
Artificial sensory nerves are at a very early stage in their development and have not yet been tested in humans. However,
these artificial nerves have been designed in the hopes that, one day, they will be safe and effective for use in people.
An artificial sensory nerve consists of resistive pressure sensors, ring oscillators, and a synaptic transistor, corresponding to
the biological mechanoreceptors, neurons, and synapses. Signal from the synaptic transistor can be recorded in a computer
(analogous to the brain).
