Rotate and

Revolve
Presenter :
Maryam Khalid
Objectives
By the end of the presentation you should
be able to :

• Define Rotation and Revolving.

• Explain the effects of rotation on Earth.
• Discuss the outcome of revolving .
Rotatio
n
Rotation is the movement of the earth on its
axis over a 24 hours period.
The Effects of
the rotation
on the Earth
Day and Night
As the Earth rotates on its axis , half of the
Earth faces the Sun and half of the Earth
faces away from the Sun.
The half of the Earth that faces the sun will
experience day while half of the Earth that
faces away from the sun will experience
night.
The image of Day and Night

As you can see the half of the Earth that is

facing the sun rays is experiencing the
Day while it is night at the other half.
High and Low Tide
• Tides are the rise and fall of water level in the oceans.
• When the sea level rises to its highest point, we call that
high tide. When it falls to its lowest point, that's called
low tide.
• The rise and fall of the tides is known as the tide cycle
• High and Low tide is a result of the gravitational pull
between the Sun and the Moon.
• When the Earth rotates the sun, the moon pulls it.
• However , one of the forces is usually stronger than the
other. Hence, we will experience high and low tide.

• The greatest height reached as the water rises is known as

high tide.

• The lowest level reached as the water falls is known as low

tide.
Example of High and Low Tide

Low Tide High Tide

Revolution
The earth is moving around the sun. This is
called a revolution. It takes 365 days, or one
year, for the earth to make one full
revolution around the sun.
Seasons on Earth
The earth's spins around and orbits sun. This is what causes the seasons.
So this was really fascinating right?

Now imagine , how big we think we are?

Look at this photo…..
It was taken Cassini Huygens when travelled close to the rings of Saturn.
Here the little blue dot is our planet Earth.
1.All of our global conflicts/wars…..
2.All of our problems……
3. All of our civilizations, animals/plants
and humans……
4. All of our races and religions…….
5.All of our Nations, Governments……
6.All of our Loved ones, hated ones……
Trying to survive from One day to another……………
Living here in a little
