 CLASSIFICATION BY PROCESS

MICRO COMPUTERS: these computers are connected to networks of other computers

Micro computer is small and it’s a general purpose computer, micro computers they interact with single users at a
time etc.
MINI COMPUTER:IS a small and general purpose
Computer
It is more expensive than a micro computer
It has more storage capacity and speed
It is designed to simultaneously handle the needs of multiple users. Etc
MAIN FRAME COMPUTERS : large computers are called main frame computers.
They are expensive than micro computers and mini frame computers
They also process data at a very high rates of speed.
They also process vast amount of data quickly like in banks insurance companies etc
SUPER COMPUTERS: they are the largest computers known
They are also the most power full computers in all
They are capable of processing trillions of instructions per second

NB: its used by government agencies, such as

 chemical analysis in laboratory
 space exploration

 CLASSIFICATION BY PURPOSE

There are four types in classification of computers by function: Analogy,

Digital, and Hybrid computer.
Analogy: is a computer that uses continuous variation aspect of physical
phenomena such as electrical etc
Examples of analogy computers: we have speed meter thermometer ,
barometer etc.
Digital computers: these are computers which represent varying
quantities symbolically and by discrete values of both time and amplitude.
Examples we have like; digital clock, ATM, smart phones etc.
Hybrid computers; these are computers that exhibit features of analogy
computers and digital computers.
Examples we have like; fuel vending machine it measures the amount of
fuel via analogy technology and displays the information in digital form
