Olympic National Park

 Theodore Roosevelt designated the park on March 2, 1909.


 re-designated a national park by Congress and President Franklin Roosevelt June
29, 1938

Location/Geography
 -3682 square kilometers
 - location JAV Washington peninsula. On the coast line of the Pacific Ocean.
 - biome Termperate Rainforest
 Olympic National Park was announced by UNESCO as an International
Biosphere Reserve, in 1981 as a World Heritage Site.

 - coasts with ridges and other landforms. Some streams reach the ocean.

Major Landforms
 - Some major landforms are the Olympic Peninsula Waterfall and trail, Quinault Rainforest,
Lake Quinault, La Push, Sol Duc Falls, Sol Duc Hot Springs/ and Salmon Cascades, Hoh
Rainforest, Lake Crescent, Marymere Falls, Hurricane Ridge, and Hood Canal Olympic Peninsula

 -over 1,450 types of vascular plant life


 -Trees: Sitka spruce, western hemlock, and western redcedar create the canopy in
the forests. Douglas Fir also covers the area.

Animals

 -Offshore: whales, dolphins, sealions, seals, and sea otters feed and live
in the Pacific Ocean.
 -Inland species: raccoons, beavers, and mink roam the lowlands, and
deer, cougar, elk and bears roam the areas ranging from valleys to
moutain meadows.
 -over 300 species of birds.
