GUIDELINES

RESEARCH PROPOSAL
 A research proposal is the presentation of an idea you wish to
pursue. It is an argument for the proposed study. It needs to
explain the logic behind the proposed study.

 The research proposal is a roadmap showing clearly the


location from which a journey of research begin, the
destination to be reached and the methods of getting the
destination.

 It provides the idea about the works to be done, how to do the


work, when to do and why to do the research and guess the
result of research in advance.
RESEARCH PROPOSAL
 For the registration of project work course,
you will have to write a research proposal as a
part of your course registration.
 The proposal is, in effect, an intellectual
scholastic contract between you and your
college.
 It specifies what you will do, how you will do
it, how you will interpret the result
TOPIC SELECTION
 A subject or issue or event, on which research is conducted, is
known as research topic
 Topic can be selected from the following sources

 A researcher can select as topic to the problems of his/her own


interest
 Researcher finds out the research gap, which is considered as
research topic
 Topic can be selected from newspaper and articles
 Researcher can select topic of research consulting to his/her
supervisor
 Researcher can take as research topic to the previous theories
developed by various scholars so as to confirm the results of the
theories in the different context

1. TITLE/COVER PAGE

 First of all, the researcher should prepare


appropriate title for the research. It should reflect
the entire subject matter of the research.
 For Ex:

 An analysis of Liquidity Management of


Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Ltd
 A Study on Dividend Policy of Prabhu Bank Ltd
DECLARATION

 As a researcher, you need to submit a declaration


that the proposal is your original piece of work,
and not submitted to any educational institution
for any academic degree
2. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
 In this part of the research proposal provides
the general information of about the research
title in brief. Researcher should show that
he/she is familiar with the subject. It should
incorporate the following information
 General information about the research title

 Reason for creating in this topic


 Relevance/Rational of the proposed study
2. PROFILE OF THE ORGANIZATION
 Main focus is given to the issue/problem in the research work because
research is conducted to resolve such issues or problems . Thus, while
developing the research problems, following points are to be taken
into consideration

 Problems of any area should be clearly stated


 Show the relationship between the variables under study
 problems whose answer is possible should only be incorporated
 For Example:
 Do HR practice enhance performance of an organization ?
 Does Learning culture of an organization stimulate innovation ?

Include 3-5 points in this part of the proposal


3.OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
 Researcher should clearly define the objective
of his/her study

Include 4-5 points in the proposal


4. RATIONALE OF THE STUDY

 Researcher should include the relevance of the


present study either that contributes to the theory
or helps to solve the problems of the society or
business or management

Include 4-5 points in this part


5.RESEARCH METHODS
 Research design: researcher should clarify the research
design that will be used to undertake the research work
in the future like either descriptive, causal comparative
or case study etc.
 Population and Sample: Researcher should clearly
explain about the population, the sample size and the
method of sampling
 Types and source of data: Researcher should explain
the way of collecting primary and secondary data. For
ex: researcher should decide whether to collect primary
data using questionnaire or interview technique
5.RESEARCH METHODS
 Tools used for analysis of data
 Financial Tools
 Statistical Tools
6. LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY
 It shows the area which is not attempted by the
researcher in the research work due to different
reasons.
 For Example:

 Larger sample Is not taken due to time constraints


 Findings of the study may vary over time because
of change in the behavior of the people

BIBLIOGRAPHY
 A list of literature that is used while preparing
proposal is to be prepared and listed at the end of
the proposal.
