Safety feature prevents signal transmission on the ground
FORCED STANDBY Automatic non-selectable mode working with weight-on-wheels switch
Pilots must press STAB button 4 times in 3 seconds to override the mode.
This mode permits navigation display only on the PFDs and MFDs. There is no radar
patch shown in this mode. When you select FP, the radar goes to the STANDBY mode
and the FLTPLNlegend is shown on the PFDs/MFDs. Target alert (TGT function) can
be used in the FP mode.

When you pull the tilt control knob, the radar subsystem goes to the auto tilt mode. In this mode, the antenna tilt is automatically selected based
on selected band and barometric altitude. The tilt control unit will adjust the antenna up to ± 2.0 degrees.
Auto tilt is shown by an Asuffix on the right side of the tilt value on the PFDs and MFDs.

When you select this mode, a special test pattern is shown on the PFD/MFD to permit
verification of subsystem operation. A TESTlegend is shown on the PFDs/MFDs.
In flight, the transmitter radiates microwave energy if the TST mode is selected. When the
aircraft is on the ground and the TST mode is selected, the transmitter also radiates
microwave energy if the radar is not in the Forced Standby (FSBY) mode.

The messages "FIVE HUNDRED”, “TWO HUNDRED” and “ONE HUNDRED" will
be sounded when associated radio altitude has been reached, with the landing gear
down.
The “FIVE HUNDRED” message will only be sounded whether one or more of the
following conditions are satisfied:
ILS is not tuned or not available.
ILS is tuned in a valid signal, but with a deviation greater than 2 dots of localizer
or glideslope.
If a backcourse approach is detected.
