SPILL RESPONSE

TRAINING
IMPIC In-House Training
OBJECTIVES OF THE TRAINING:

• Discuss minor spill response procedure of IMPIC.


• Minor spill response clean-up using absorbent materials.
• Proper disposal of minor spill waste.
• Discussion of MSDS/SDS of chemicals used in the worksite
SPILL RESPONSE PROCEDURE
Spill less than 50 Liters

c. Dispose the cleaned-up materials based on the Waste management
procedure.
CLEANING UP MINOR SPILL
Assess Assess if the spill is minor or major using the below guide:
Minor: Less 50L of spill
Major: More 50L of spill
Notify PGPC Drilling representative.
Secure the Area Secure the area with tape, signage, cones.
Notify personnel in the area and ask them to leave until the spill is cleared.
Signage and barriers may be used if they are at hand.

PPE Wear appropriate PPE.


Control the Spill Where safe to do so, control the source of the spill to prevent further release.
For example:
• Turn off the valve or tap, and/or
• Place the container in a position preventing further spillage.
• Wear appropriate PPE (as stated in the SDS) when controlling, containing and
disposing of spills.
Contain and Clean • Contain the chemical spill using absorbing products or sand.
• Collect all spill residues and any contaminated material and place in an appropriate
waste container.

Dispose Material must be disposed of in appropriately designated waste bins

 Ingredients Includes: substance,

 Hazards Identification Dangers for humans and the environment such
as: Most important hazards & Specific hazards

First Aid gives instructions on what to do in case of eye contact, skin


contact or ingestion
