DEVELOP A CONCEPT IN

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN
• So you have got the project brief and you’re ready to start sketching but you
seem to have hit a creative block. Creative block can be extremely frustrating
especially if all your work depends on it you need to pay the bills well don’t
worry about it. Today I am going to show you how to develop architectural
content.
WAYS TO DEVELOP CONCEPT

• There are two ways to develop the concept. The concept originated from
functions and concept inspired by art.
FUNCTIONAL CONCEPT

•  I want to design has a logical purpose that solves the design problem. Remember it’s a
non-physical problem meaning that you’re not for example getting chased by a Chinese
back robe jumping on rooftops ninja. If you look at this project the city life apartments
by de Hadid the environment was considered. She designed seven buildings around a
residential courtyard and she used curved balconies and covered terraces to provide a
soft an elegant shape to the building while seamlessly connecting next serious and
interior. Furthermore, all of the apartments are varying in size to adapt to each
particular need.
WANTS OF CLIENTS

• Okay so how do you develop a functional concept you may ask well. First
thing you need to read the project brief on understanding briefly what your
clients want. Then look at your site analysis and try to brainstorm the
multiple approaches on how you can design the project in a way that client
and you both get you to want while exploiting all that your site can offer for
example the wing and Ansel sunshine. I’m going to link out the video.
ENVIRONMENT AND SURROUNDINGS

• I did about that analysis similar and somewhere on your screen. I highly recommend you watch it. You
can rely on other things to help you with you brainstorming. Bubble diagram zoning geometry
dimensions and proportion think about the environment and surroundings how are you connect the
building with the city or the main street. How are you going to separate the different functions in the
private-public spaces? You can even have new spaces that are not specifically common in a similar
president. Medical facility in an apartment building and I’ll deuterium in a house or an amusement
park for children in a hospital. If you want a video especially dedicated to any of those topics in
particular then please leave a suggestion in the comments down below.
ARTISTIC CONCEPT

• The aims have an artistic concept when a designer relies on another form of art for
inspiration. The good thing about this approach is that your design looks original
and creative. However, they can be challenging to build expensive and
controversial. If their design was not functional then you basically neglected your
aim which is to create a functional building for the client. That is willing to pay
you a lot of money if you look at the most impressive well-admired project.
COMBINATION OF FUNCTIONS

• You will find the best way to develop concepts are the combination of functions and on you
can get inspired by painting movements, nature rhythm, philosophies or history the ink house
by the Charles and Ray Eames has just the right balance between the usage and the aesthetics
the house contains two boxes separated by courtyard the two boxes serve two different
functions. One is for the resident himself and the other is a studio it was made of
prefabricated materials that were easy to build it was inspired by painting in its geometric
facade broken into the colored panel. It also has a Japanese Influence in the flow of spaces.
