INTRODUCTION
• LI-FI: "LIGHT FIDELITY" is a wireless optical
network technology in which transmission of
data is through illumination, i.e. sending data
through a LED light bulb that varies intensity
faster than human eye can follow.
.
• Li-Fi is a light based Wi-Fi, it uses light instead
of radio waves to transmit information.
• Li-Fi data is transmitted by the LED bulbs and
photoreceptors.

VISIABLE LIGHT COMMUNICATION

• Li-fi is a faster and cheaper version of wi-fi, which is based on visible light
communication (VLC).
• The visible light communication is a data communication technique using
visible light between 400
THz to 800 THz as an optical carrier for data transmission.
• VLC operates under the concepts of transmission of data via light rays to
send and receive
messages in a given distance.
• The VLC requires a receiver (photo detector), a transmitter(LED) and a
channel of communication.

WHO CAN REPLACE RADIO
WAVES FOR
WIRELESSCOMMUNICATION ?
THAT IS
WORKING PROCESS
• Operational procedure is very simple, if the LED is
on, you transmit a digital 1, if its off, you transmit a

O. the LEDs can be switched on and off very quickly,

which gives nice opportunities for transmitting data.

• Hence, all that us required is some LEDs and a

controller that code data into those LEDs
.
• Flicker depending upon the data we want to
Encode.

• Thus every light source will work as a hub for data

transmission.
HOW LIFI WORKS?
LI-FI vs WI-FI

SSVPS COLLEGE
ADVANTAGES

• • Larger bandwidth.
• • High efficiency
• • More availability
• High security
• • No licence neede
• • Green information technology
• Lighting points can be used as hotspots
DISADVANTEGES

• • Li-fi doesn't works in the dark.

• • Li-fi has a big drawback compare to wi-fi, unlike wi-fi we cannot move to
other room unless there are wired bulb too.
• • Light can't pass through the object.
• • Interference from external sources like sunlight, normal bulbs and opaque
material in the path of transition will course interruption in the communication.
• • High installation cost of the VLC systems.
APPLICATION

• • Used for modern medical instruments.

• • In aircrafts, it can be used for data transmission.
• • Used in petroleum or chemical plants where other transmission or
frequency can be hazardous
• • In traffic signals, li-fi can be used which will communicate with the LED
light of the cars.
• • Location based services.
• • Underwater communication.
CONCLUSION

• • Overcomes the limitations of radio spectrum.

• • High speed of 10gbps can be achieved.
• • The possibilities are numerous and can be explored further.
• • This may solve issues such as the shortage of radio frequency
bandwidth.
• • Li-fi is enabled by advance digital transmission technologies.
FUTURE SCOPE

• • In future the connectivity used in places where Wi-Fi fails on an airplane

and in submarines.
• • The future is bright for LI-FI as a reliable, affordable and more secure
solution.
• • Security would not be an issue because if u cant se the light you cant
access the data. As a result the LI- Fl can be used in high security military
areas.
• • UI-FI can be used in education system.
• • Replacement for other technologies.
