INTRODUCTION
●Production of agriculture is one of the

mostly discussed problems as a

significant part of our population. Agriculture
plays a pivotal role in Indian economy.
●The soil digging machine which is used for the
plantation of small plants or crops. This machine
uses the principle of Auger drilling machine
which is employed in pile foundation during 4

construction
Earth auger
● An auger is a type of drilling device, which
mostly consists of a rotating helical blade or the
drill bit which acts as a screw conveyor and
easily removes the drilled out material.
● The rotating action of the blade creates a hole
and removes out the material from it. Here, an
auger that is specifically used in digging post
holes is known as Earth auger.

● The machine is formed automatic by
employing a D.C motor which is an influence
source for digging the soil. The motor can be
rotated both in clockwise and anticlockwise
directions
● This machine is meant for a preliminary aim
of avoiding the utilization of shovels & levers
in plantation of saplings thereby enhancing
the plantation process by making it facile.

● It is generally powered by an internal
combustion engine or an electric motor or can
even be manually turned on a handheld device.
● Most often, handheld earth augers are used
for the creation of holes in garden plantations.
● Powered earth augers are best suited for
drilling operations on grounds, farms, nurseries,
greenhouses EARTH AUGERS are majorly used
for agriculture purposes for drilling in farms for
banana plantations, vegetable crops, etc. 8

●The dril bit is the main component of the
earth auger which is used to make a hole during
the operation.

● The power on an earth auger ranges
between two HP to five HP. The larger ones
are best suited for harder soil.
● The engine is the main part of the
machine which is used to produce a required
power to drill the hole.
● The engine is connected with the drill bit
to make a hole.

● Methodology shows systematic way to do
work. It is standard process
of describing process, how it is done in
simplest manner.

● Design consists of application of scientific
principle, technical information, and
imagination for development of new
mechanism to perform specific function the
total design work.
● The power on an earth auger ranges between
two HP to five HP. The larger ones are best
suited for harder soil. When buying earth auger,
you will have a choice between two-stroke and
four-stroke engines.

● Drilling is the act of making a hole in a
material using cutting equipment and can be
done on the earth’s surface. Hole drilling on the
earth’s surface is primarily.
● Hole drilling for Planting trees is a major
activity that .involves digging holes using either
a drilling machine mechanism or hand tools.
●The engine is uses petrol to run the drill bit is

dig that hole more quickly with less effort.
●The required hole is done with sooner with
help of the earth auger.
●The man power is required less to operate
the earth auger.

APPLICATIONS
● Agriculture land ,gardens, Highway authority,
Contractors for fencing, Plantation.
● An earth auger, earth drill, or post-hole auger
is a drilling tool or machine used for making
holes in the ground.
● It typically consists of a rotating vertical metal
rod or pipe with one or more blades attached at
the lower end, that cut or scrape the soil.

CONCLUSION
● Man is always trying to develop more and
more modified techniques with increasing the
aesthetical look and economic consideration.
Hence there is always more and more scope
towards whatever he might have created of
course after having the experience of the
presently manufacturing things. 18
● The main aim was to design a frame based
hole-drilling machine for planting trees ,
telephone and fencing poles. The engineering
design approach used to design the
dimensions of various components.
