INTRODUCTION TO CHILD ABUSE:
Child abuse or child maltreatment is
physical, sexual, and/or psychological
maltreatment or neglect of a child of
children.
FORMS OF CHILD ABUSE:
PHYSICAL ABUSE: is the deliberate intention to inflict
pain. When someone hears the term “child abuse”, they most
commonly associate it with physical abuse. Wounds, bruises, burns,
fractures, and sore muscles are signs of physical abuse, but abuse
can also result from severe acts of discipline.
SEXUAL ABUSE: Touching a child in a sexual manner, or having
sexual relations with the child is sexual abuse and includes any
behavior toward the child for sexual stimulation. This type of abuse
is characterized by fondling, forced sexual acts, and indecent
physical exposure.
PSYCHOLOGICAL ABUSE: Non-accidental verbal or symbolic
acts by a child's parent or caregiver that result, or have reasonable
potential to result, in significant psychological harm to the child.
spurning, terrorizing, isolating, exploiting, corrupting, denying
emotional responsiveness.
"There is no trust more sacred than the one the world holds with children.
There is no duty more important than ensuring that their rights are respected,
that their welfare is protected, that their lives are free from fear and want and
that they can grow up in peace."
THANK YOU….
