INTRODUCTION TO CHILD ABUSE:
 Child abuse or child maltreatment is
physical, sexual, and/or psychological
maltreatment or neglect of a child of
children.
FORMS OF CHILD ABUSE:
 PHYSICAL ABUSE: is the deliberate intention to inflict
pain.  When someone hears the term “child abuse”, they most
commonly associate it with physical abuse. Wounds, bruises, burns,
fractures, and sore muscles are signs of physical abuse, but abuse
can also result from severe acts of discipline.
 SEXUAL ABUSE: Touching a child in a sexual manner, or having
sexual relations with the child is sexual abuse and includes any
behavior toward the child for sexual stimulation. This type of abuse
is characterized by fondling, forced sexual acts, and indecent
physical exposure.
 PSYCHOLOGICAL ABUSE: Non-accidental verbal or symbolic
acts by a child's parent or caregiver that result, or have reasonable
potential to result, in significant psychological harm to the child.
spurning, terrorizing, isolating, exploiting, corrupting, denying
emotional responsiveness.

 CHILD NEGLECT: is the failure of a parent or other person with


responsibility for the child, to provide needed food, clothing,
shelter, medical care, or supervision to the degree that the child's
health, safety or well-being may be threatened with harm.
EFFECTS OF CHILD ABUSE:
 EMOTIONAL: emotional abuse have comparable effects on a
child's emotional state and have been linked to childhood
depression, low self-compassion, and negative automatic thoughts. 
 PHYSICAL: Physical abuse can cause many chronic (long-lasting)
health problems, including heart problems, high blood pressure,
and digestive problems. Children who are abused are also more
likely to develop depression, anxiety, or eating disorders.
CAUSES OF CHILD ABUSE:
 Causes of child abuse can include: isolation and lack of support —
no family members, friends, partners or community support to help
with the demands of parenting. stress — financial pressures, job
worries, medical problems or caring for a family member with a
disability.
EXAMPLES OF CHILD
ABUSE:
 CHILD ABUSE: Child trafficking is the recruitment,
transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of children
for the purpose of exploitation. According to
UNICEF, about 3.3 million children are engaged in child
labor in Pakistan.
 FORCED ADOPTION: Removing children of ethnic
minorities from their families to be adopted by those of
the dominant ethnic group has been used as a method
of forced assimilation.
CHILD ABUSE PAKISTAN:

According to International Society prevention of child abuse
(ISPCAN), overall, 41.69% respondents were sexually abused with
one or another form in the recent years Pakistan.The report, titled
“Six Months Cruel Numbers 2021”, states that the average number
of children subjected to abuse has increased by two children per day
in comparison with the last year’s January-June report.The report
further states that 53% (1,013) of the victims were girls and (883)
47% were boys.It reveals that “children from the age group 6-15 are
most vulnerable to abuse”.According to the report, in 1,045 cases,
the abusers were acquaintances, while they were strangers in 430
cases, relatives in 49 cases, female abettors in 47 cases,
seminary/school teachers in 38 cases, neighbours in 37 cases, and
family members in 32 cases.Sahil has been working since 1996 on
child protection, especially against child sexual abuse (CSA).
CONCLUSION

There is no duty more important than ensuring that their rights are respected,
that their welfare is protected, that their lives are free from fear and want and
that they can grow up in peace."
