ØCache memory is an extremely fast
memory type ,that acts as a buffer
CACHE between RAM and the CPU.
ØCache memory is a small-sized type
MEMORY of volatile computer memory that
provides high-speed data access to a
processor and stores frequently used
computer programs, applications and
data.
ØCache Memory is a special very
high-speed memory.
CACHE MEMORY
Cache memory is important because it helps CPU
performance. It's used for different things than
RAM.
ØCache memory is faster than main
memory.
FEATURES OF Ø It consumes less access time as
CACHE MEMORY compared to main memory.
Ø It stores the program that can be
executed within a short period of
time.
Ø It stores data for temporary use.
vMERITS

DEMERITS USE.
OF CACHE ØIT STORE THE PROGRAM THAT
CAN BE EXECUTED WITHIN SHORT
MEMORY PERIOD OF TIME.
vDEMERITS
ØIT IS VERY EXPENSIVE.
ØCACHE MEMORY HAS LIMITED
CAPACITY.
BUFFER
Ø Buffer is a region of memory used to temporarily hold data
while it is being moved from one place to another. A buffer is
used when moving data between processes within a computer.
Ø A buffer is a data area shared by hardware devices or
program processes that operate at different speeds or with
different sets of priorities.
Ø The buffer stores transmitted data temporarily as it is
going between devices or between a device and an app.
Ø The purpose of a buffer is to hold data right before it is used.
Ø Buffering is used to improve several other areas of
computer performance as well.
Ø The buffer memory is a memory space, which is used
to store data.
The use of the buffer can reduce the amount of
disk traffic, thereby increasing overall system
throughput and decreasing response time.
 Buffer memory is a
temporary storage area in
the main memory (RAM)
that stores data

BUFFER transferring between two

or more devices or
between an application
and a device. Buffering
compensates for the
difference in transfer
speeds between the sender
and receiver of the data.
When you download an
audio or video file
from the Internet, it
may load the first 20%
of it into a buffer and
then begin to play
