Introduction

in this presentation we are going to explain

what is Halloween and the Day of the Dead. its
origin, the difference between them, their way
of celebrating and the personal opinion of each
one of us.
HALLOWEEN

Halloween, contraction of All Hallow s Eve (Eve of All

Saints) is a holiday of pagan origin celebrated on October 31
and whose roots come from an ancient Celtic festival of more
than 3,000 years known as Samhain

Halloween has its origin in Ireland, in the rites of the Celts at

the end of the harvest season. From there it went to the United
Kingdom, from Europe the celebration was moved to the
United States.
Dia de Muertos

On the Día de Muertos, according to tradition, loved ones

who have passed away return to be with their relatives and
nourish themselves from the offerings placed in their
honor.

The origin of this festival dates back to pre-Hispanic times,

since in the indigenous vision implies the return of the
souls of the deceased, who return home to the world of
the living to live with relatives and eat the essence of the
food offered to them on the altars.

Personal opinion of team members about Halloween and the Día de Muertos

Miguel André Cornejo Urías

My opinion of el día de los muertos I think that the day of the dead is important, since it is a day in which departed
loved ones are remembered, showing the affection that they have, and that they will always be with us, my favorite
part is when we go to visit our loved ones to his grave to leave a detail Día de Muertos

My opinion about Halloween is a celebration to have fun with friends or family because you go trick or treating
dressed as your favorite character or favorite actor unlike the day of the dead which is more to honor your relatives
who are no longer with

The day of the dead in Mexico is a tradition that has passed from generation to generation, a good time to share with
the family remembering our loved ones, for me it is something beautiful since the whole family gets together and we
visit the graves of our loved ones who When they died we brought them flowers and something that they liked a lot
in life, the best thing we do at school on the day of the dead is the altars, the catrina dress contests and my favorite
part was participating in the parades we did in Michoacán

🎃 Halloween is a party totally foreign to our culture but nevertheless it is fun in the sense that, young people, they
dress up as some fictional character and attend parties which makes it fun, what I like most about this holiday is that
when I was a girl I used to ask for sweets disguised as a character, together with my friends
Ximena Esquivel Gastelum

Day of the dead, for me it is a very important and beautiful celebrity because we are remembering our loved ones who
are no longer with us and honoring them

Halloween also makes me a very funny celebrity because we receive sweets and we can dress up as a favorite character
and also spend time with our friends.

Día de muertos: For me, the Day of the Dead is a very beautiful holiday, since it is a special day to remember
and celebrate and only for all those people or loved ones who no longer accompany us here. Commonly in my
family we usually celebrate by going to the pantheon to visit my grandfather, we spend the afternoon there and
clean a little; when we get home, we have dinner and eat "pan de muerto".

Halloween:For my Halloween it's a fun holiday, although a little unnecessary, well, I don't usually celebrate it as
"it's usually used to it," just like my family. Rarely have I come to "celebrate" it by going to parties with my
friends and sometimes, we have dressed up; what I enjoy most about these dates is to see the creativity of people
in their costumes, I find it fun and interesting.
Manuel Alejandro Cortez Amezcua

The day of the dead is a holiday that I rarely celebrate, but it seems like a very unique tradition
for all the activities that it implements.

Halloween is a holiday that I used to celebrate a lot when I was little and I used to go out to
trick-or-treat and it was a lot of fun, but now that I'm grown up I don't celebrate much, although
I do when I take my sisters to trick-or-treat.
favorite movie of the two traditions

My favorite movie is COCO It is very beautiful, it leaves very nice messages among which the value of the family
stands out and follow the path to achieve your dreams. I like it because it also includes Mexican cultures, especially the
day of the dead and the importance of family love

(Coco 2017) my favorite film of the day of the dead. The film is inspired by the celebration of the Day of the Dead and
is a love letter to Mexico. I love this film because it teaches us the value of family, trust in one self, respect, honesty and
the importance of truth. Children learn easily through the movies my favorite part is when Miguel is accidentally
transported to the world of the dead, where he seeks help to find his deceased musician great-great-grandfather

Hocus pocus 1993) my favorite halloween movie in my opinion represents something of halloween since it deals with
witches magic frights my favorite parts of that movie is when Max accidentally frees three witches who used to live in
the place. With the help of a magical cat, the boys must steal the witches spell book before they become immortal

my favorite day of the dead movie is coco, it is a very beautiful and sad movie and it
brings back memories

my favorite halloween movie i think coraline because it is very entertaining and i

Day of dead:“el libro de la vida

Halloween: “el cadaver de la novia”

Manuel Alejandro Cortez Amezcua

My favorite movie is Coco because it represents the Day of the Dead festivity and its
activities, such as offering flowers and candles.

my favorite halloween movie is the incredible world of jack because it explains in a very
funny way what halloween is like.
In conclusion

In conclusion, both Halloween and the Day of the Dead are not similar because they have different
activities or ways of celebrating, since one has the purpose of having fun and having a good time, and
the other has the purpose of honoring the dead and having a good time in some way.
