WATER SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

COOLING WATER SYSTEMS

AUXILIARY WATER SYSTEMS

Why Cooling Water Systems ?

To act as Heat Sink for the thermal cycle in the process of generating mechanical power. To cool the auxiliaries of the plant for enhanced performance & life.

COOLING WATER SYSTEMS

CIRCULATING WATER SYSTEM
Once Through Type Closed Recirculating Type

AUXILIARY COOLING WATER SYSTEMS EQUIPMENT COOLING WATER SYSTEMS

SAILIENT FEATURES OF CW SYSTEM :

To provide cooling water to the condenser for condensation of steam. This water, by the means of CW pumps, is supplied to the condenser. The water while flowing through the condenser tubes extracts heat from steam in the condenser shell (outside the tubes). The hot water discharge from the condenser is either
discharged to the reservoir in case of once through type ; led to the cooling tower to cool and return back the water into the system in case of closed recirculating type.

SAILIENT FEATURES OF ACW SYSTEM

To provide cooling water for cooling of plant auxiliaries. The water is either tapped from CW system or is independently supplied from the source CW. It may be that the plant auxiliary coolers are directly supplied by this water, or are indirectly cooled by this circuit. In case it is used for indirect cooling of plant auxiliaries, this water is pumped through the secondary side of Plate Type Heat Exchangers, thereby cooling the water in the primary side.

SAILIENT FEATURES OF ECW SYSTEM :

To provide passivated demineralized cooling water to various coolers ,which are critical for the operation of the plant. This passivated demineralized cooling water in turn is cooled by the ACW circuit (as it flows through the secondary side of Plate Type Heat Exchangers) and is returned back to the system. Pumps are installed to maintain the flow in this closed circuit system of ECW.

WHAT IS AUXILIARY WATER SYSTEM ?

It involves intake of water into the plant, and distribution to various plant facilities for : processing the raw water to various other usable forms, consumptive use of the processed water in the plant, make-up purpose.

SAILIENT FEATURES RAW WATER SYSTEM

It involves pumping raw water from source to the raw water reservoir in the plant area. The complete plant water requirement are met from this raw water system after treating the water to requisite quality.
